When I first got into drones back around 2015, I watched a lot of old videos from Flite Test. I loved their AnyCopter platform, which used a simple circular hub, laser cut from thin plywood, with arms made from hardwood dowels that could be easily swapped out for different configurations; tri, quad, hex, etc.
I wanted to build on this concept but with a more modern design & materials, so I made Everycopter in 2019 as an homage to the original AnyCopter.
The essential features of the circular hub plates with mounting holes for arms in various configurations remains, but now with the addition of 20x20 & 30.5x30.5 mounting holes for modern flight controllers & 4in1 ESCs. I also designed a top plate to cover & protect the electronics, which has slots for battery straps & 1/4" holes for easy mounting of action cameras using standard tripod bolts.
The hub plates were CNC machined from carbon fibre, which was a first for me at the time & a great experience working with a smaller manufacturer in China.
